The red beam is generated by semiconductor diodes emitting a light minimum of 635 nm. This beam passes through optic lenses and mirrors and produces a red beam or dot. 

Some red beam laser levels have a combination of red lines and dots. This type of red beam laser level is more technologically convenient to produce.

Green laser light can reach up to 50 ft indoors. And will also depend on the level of brightness inside the room. Well-lit rooms still favor green laser levels over red ones.

Red laser-level beams can reach up to 30 ft indoors.
