There is a wealth of information on the internet.
Do you find it hard to find accurate Building or even DIY information?
We all know that not all information is equal, just like every tool is not equal. And not all content on the internet is written or edited by a real person, expert, or even an enthusiast.
The DIY and building space online can be seen as dangerously misleading with the ideas non-professionals share around and copy from each other.
The nature of the trade, and the hazards associated with building, tools, heavy equipment, working from heights, and hazardous substances need to be respected.
From our surveys, no one reads a 20-page pdf with no pictures on how to wear earmuffs on government site-safety websites.
- This type of communication is not effective or educational for young ones, or people working in the trade.
- We are an independent blog and opinion shaped from research and experience working under official resources and regulations.
- We are focused on the motivation and education of our readers and use highly effective principles for education that help readers not only read but retain information.

Unbiased product reviews.
Trusted tool reviews come from qualified carpenters.
All product reviews we do are also edited and updated by the same qualified people, that understand each tool’s function and purpose and know how to use them safely.
As the editors here at Bangingtoolbox work in the trade of construction as builders, engineers, and architects themselves. They each have their own tools and preferences. Bangintoolbox does not own any tools, however, our writers do and they help spill the beans on whats-what.
Our writers have experience with competing brands from their daily use and from the feedback they get from other builders on the worksites before starting a new review process.
Not every writer has used 100% of everything themselves, but to make our reviews comprehensive and complete we cover as much as we can. We have used and tested most of what’s included in our reviews at the top. However, buying every tool including what we don’t like would be wasteful and expensive.
We teach our readers how to save money so that they can do more DIY, with less investment. We do the same thing ourselves a single tool for each task is enough, some tools can do multiple jobs.
Most tools should last a lifetime, depending on what and how they were used while depending on the maintenance they received during their time on the worksite.
We continue to monitor the durability of different tools for their performance durability over time with their real-time use. Therefore our review orders can change over time.
After a review, we also get feedback from readers.
The reality of power tool opinions online.
The majority of the internet on display is written and edited by content writers that do not have personal experience.
Professional brand power tools and hand tools are designed to last for the trade. Some angle grinders and circular saws on the building site are 30+ years old and still operating well, while only requiring general maintenance like replacing the brushes in the motors every few years. However, cheaper bands may only last a year before breaking and may have never worked well from the beginning.
For tools to be adequately tested for durability, they need to be monitored under daily use for a sustained period, at least 2-10 years in our opinion and that is why we communicate with other people on the building sites we work on or have contact with.
- Cordless tool brands should be monitored for 2-3 years.
- Power tool brands should be monitored for 5-10 years.
Any website that hires rental tools or a range of brand new tools that will be on the shelf for resale at the original price the next day is like the tourists in a tourist trap with a selfie stick, they are there for the pic only but never actually do anything.
To just take a single photo is never proof of a product used or tested. And doesn’t come close to the subject of a real professional opinion on a tool’s performance with a career dedicated to the art of construction. And the experience of being a builder.
This is pure marketing stuff no qualified professional believes it. A tool needs to be under pressure, in the rain, dropped, and in the mud, while being subject to the real construction world and the opinions of multiple builders for at least 2- 10 years for an accurate opinion of durability, comparison, and overall functionality of a power tool or brand.
For example, I dropped my cordless planer 2 floors from a roof onto concrete in the first week I had it and it still works 5 years later. All these stories take years of experience to see the side effects of an accident.
The story of why Bangingtoolbox started.
Our writers and editors have qualified and personal industry experience.
When Aaron was an apprentice builder 13 years ago he could never find a single blog that was remotely accurate when it comes to building information.
During his apprenticeship, 13 years ago his site supervisor had a rant in the work van on the way home from the Jobsite as he wanted to throw his computer in the bin.
- “Why is every tool review website on the internet just pure spam and not make any sense”,
- “Why isn’t there a single unbiased list of tools available on the internet?” followed with,
- “Who is comparing these tools that aren’t even the same tools that should be compared.”
Although the topic of DIY and building is massive, how on earth can one of the biggest subjects on the planet not have a trade-related blog showing on search. Aaron thinks 90% percent of builders do not use any internet search for this reason.
This is one of the reasons why Bangingtoolbox.com was started. Builders and tradies do not expect to find too much about building and DIY when searching most of the time.
Beyond the important demand for power tool recommendations for active DIY’ers and busy carpenters or mechanics. We are a rare trade-related blog available for connecting young readers that are interested in getting started with practical skills, or for workers in the trade that might be struggling with various challenges, we hope to grow in this area as we can.
Bangingtoolbox strives to be the online platform that most accurately refines online building and DIY information beneficial toward sustainable construction and living while helping to drive a productive workforce.
Other official building resources.
Our writers can say whatever they find to be accurate, with an unbiased and uncensored opinion.
Some people say the right and wrong way to build is subjective. We as builders study construction “theory”. But theory is only the best-proven method, that is currently believed to be most right under current scientific tests and studies.
We do not provide an exact building theory for any country-specific building regulation or building code. We focus on a global approach to the basics of DIY and building that can be used and applied anywhere.
Not every building code is perfect for every country. Every Geolocation has a better-localized theory of engineering and construction based on local weather, temperature, and risk of natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, and snow.
For the specifics on exact aspects of the building code, for doing what’s known as restricted building you need to purchase the building code that is relevant to the country and area you are working in.
